Arrival (Saturday) --updated

Finally managed to secure some internet access. I'll just post up some pictures now and add text later. Not much happened between Pella and the rockies. This is all just the first two days, lots of catching up to do - maybe when we get to a hotel tomorrow night.



This is of course not our only food, I just thought the contents of this basket were funny.

Arriving in Georgetown, CO. We got in around dark and brought everything into the hotel room. There was no snow to be seen at this point. We tried the Super 8 this time and it was pretty nice although somewhat cramped.

Surprise morning snow was a little exciting. We're around 8000ft elevation here and just flurries. It hadn't occurred to me yet that the weather would get worse rapidly as we went up.

The roads got worse fast as we headed off into the mountains. Everything got shut down a few miles outside of Vail, CO. We ended up being stopped for almost an hour I'd guess.

We stopped in Vail for a break after waiting for so long and noticed a little slush buildup on the bikes.

A little dark and cloudy, but at least we made it to Utah. Easy drive on some interstate before the turnoff onto a tiny road to Moab.

A few views from our campsite. We found one that was closer to town than last year, only 1mi out compared to 10mi out.

We checked out a marshland/wetland area that is actually right next to town in the desert. There was a lake with ducks on it and lots of tall grass. It looked like almost any public land area in Iowa but was neat to see given the surrounding rock and desert.

Back to camp to make supper and wait for tomorrow.
