And all this time I've been referring to my whiffletree as a seat-post, wow I feel like an idiot. Luckily my new light came with these handy instructions to straighten me out on use of the magic strap.

Capital City Cross 2012
First race of the year for me - way behind on putting content on here, will add more soon. Corrine got some videos that I'll post as well once I get them uploaded to Youtube (since Google Video blows).

Capital Pursuit
On the road bright and early today, Corrine ran the Capital Pursuit in down-town Des Moines. As if to confirm that it's really Fall now, the temperature was 34°F when we left the house. The lowest we saw was 32°F in Carlisle.
The low overnight temps created quite a bit of fog around bodies of water. I couldn't get a very good picture but there was extremely dense fog hanging over the Des Moines River almost like a floating snake.
Clear skies met the sunrise and promised warmth soon.
Lots of people waiting to stage. This is an extremely small event considering that it's 30years old. I think it had 500-600 participants last year.
Race start! I'm not sure what happened, but the gun went off 5-10 seconds after everyone started running - odd.
Corrine crushing it on the way into the timing gate.
Ten miles later - finish!

River People
We went for a walk to check out the Des Moines river since it looked pretty low.
This is the north tail-water.
This is about how far across the river one can walk without getting wet - probably roughly 3/4 of the way.
We found this worm in the parking-lot. It was traveling about 50ft to find some fresh grass.

HyVee Triathalon
We had never seen the HyVee Tri before and Cody had entered this year so Corrine, Nathan, Sarah, and I headed out to spectate. It was rumored that Andrew and Christina were here too, but I never saw them until the finish.
Swim-bike transition area.
Bike out/in lane.

Another shot of the bike transition area. The $$$ parked here just blew my mind - if you recall my post from July, when I snapped a pic. of some Zipp wheels, that sort of hardware seemed to be the minimum standard for this crowd.
Make sure to push the full-screen button and then pick 1080p quality.
Cody clearly didn't go fast enough - he looked 100% fine at the end. 25th overall division though - solid.
