Weather Opposite Day

Wow, nothing like last week's long run day. We left the house at a temperature of "feels like 26°" because it's so windy. No big deal, as we're used to running down to about 0° over the winter, but kind of a bummer after 80° and sunny like we just had. Six miles was the plan today and it was no problem, both feeling great. I guess a bunch of pancakes and espresso works out about as well as a power-bar.

Temp. at the trailhead

New trail today - North-Overlook, east dirt loop. We've run this one a bunch of times a year to two ago, riding bikes out to the trail and changing into running gear, then riding back. As dirt trails go, it's pretty safe for running - it probably helps that horses aren't allowed on this one so there aren't large holes and ruts all over.

A few areas with a lot of up/down, but nothing so long that you're totally wiped out at the top of a climb.

Somebody had a cold hand on the way home.

Back onto the pavement heading west so we can make up some more mileage to get the correct total.

Made it to the half-way right near this bench, so we hung out there for a bit to stretch. It was extremely cold in the wind after sitting for a little bit.

I was anticipating that there would be a bunch of pavement today so I had on my Brooks cross flats. They sure are lighter than my Solomons, but do not get along with mud and roots very well.

Under the highway again.

Back onto the dirt loop for the last time today. This entrance is definitely a spot that could use some better water-shed management despite the best effort of all the natural roots.

Done with the dirt loop, on to the pavement again for a half mile connector to the final trail which takes us back to the vehicle.
